This edition of "Paul & Virginia" is quite well. The book on time and was in good condition, despite it being used.I used this novel for my Freshman Scholar class named, "Islands of Identity: Overseas Territories of France". There is a beginning section of the book which describes Saint-Pierre's life and it is significant in knowing this. This plus the history of France and its' relationship with territories that they had in the 18th century define what Romanticism and the ideals of Rousseau were in creation of equality and the great separation of the world.
The novel was great and I highly suggest obtaining a copy especially if you decide to take French and further in this subject or want to read one of France's great classics. In my opinion, I liked it - however, it seemed cliche to Romeo and Juliet.

This used to be considered a classic, but it has sadly faded with time in the face of the loss of innocence. To those who love calmness and virtue, it has its charms. To those who love excitement and sin, it has nothing to say. The climax, where Virginia allows herself to drown rather than get into a lifeboat in a storm because she is in her underwear and is too modest to let the sailors see her thus, is an absurdity to all but the most fanatical devotees of modesty. And it is precisely this climax and its absurdity that have destroyed this book.
I replaced this book with one I lost in the Central Texas, Bastrop Complex Fire of 2011. This book was in better shape than my original. Thanks to this seller for creating a smooth transaction. I would definitely do business with them again.
